ReplyDeleteHa! Puerto Ricans and their chickens. I remember when growing up in the Bronx, my grandmother thought it a good idea to keep a chicken in our apartment. She still had Puerto Rico in her blood and aculturation was not easy for her. (I'm asuming that's Puerto Rico - suppose it could happen elsewhere too.)

ReplyDeleteI remember eating with the chickens at Blue Heaven, a cute restaurant in Key West. They were everywhere--on the umbrellas, on the fences and while I never saw any land on the tables on the patio where we were eating breakfast, I saw the waiters lift off a few leaves that flutter down from the umbrellas...
